Mixing engineer and producer Philipp "Philsen" Hoppen
Producer & mixer for "Die Ärzte, Kraftklub, KIZ or Deichkind".
Philsen has started in 2000 as assistant in hamburgs home-studios.com, owned by Franz Plasa. He soon became personal assistant of Peter Schmidt and got in touch with transporterraum in 2004. From there on he started to throw his mixing skills into the trapo-posse and getting to produce music more and more.
As early as 2001, I heard about the ASIO drivers of RME systems and that they were incredibly stable, fast and, above all, significantly cheaper than the competition. My first really good system of my own was an RME system and the first really good converter was an ADI-8 Pro. I did my production with it for years until I switched to an HDSPe MADI with M-32 AD and DA converters. Also to have a system with enough inputs and outputs to do full band production. I could then take my own system into large studios and no longer had to rely on the fact that there was a modern and powerful system there. That was a huge improvement for me.
Since 2017, I've had my own ‘big’ studio. Outboard equipment, recording room, instruments and, at its centre, an SSL 4000 console. I thought this would be a good time to look left and right for alternatives and that's what I did. In the end I went back to an RME MADI system with M-32 Pro converters. Fantastic sound, easy installation and maximum stability are simply unrivalled for me in this combination."
